Colin had his first trip to the ER this morning! He is ok...but here is the story!
Colin was normal all day yesturday and he went to be perfectly fine. He awoke about 1:30 in the morning with a hard time breathing. He was gasping and had a 'seal-like' cough and rasp to his voice. After calming him down- Brandon & I decided he needed to go to the ER. Brandon stayed home to sleep for work and my niece, Andrea, came with Colin and I. We went to Dupont Hospital.
We arrived and immeditaley they decided that Colin was suffering from a bad case of 'croupe.' Croupe is a respitory viral infection that attacks kids from 3 months to 4 years. He received 2 breathing treatments by a wonderful woman named Laura. Colin really liked her and she treated him like a 14 month old should be treated. Now for the rest of the staff- I have nothing nice to say. Seriously- looking at Colin and demanding him to 'cooporate' during his X-Rays is ridiculous. Imagine being 14 months old- 1st time in the ER, really tried, cannot breathe, being sat in a chair by himself with a lead apron on. Would you be able to 'cooperate??' Let alone he doesn't even know what the word means!
ANYWAYS- he also recieved a strong steriod shot to open his airways. THEN we also find out he has an ear infection in his right ear. So he is then given a antibiotic shot to help with that. So there a tid bit of our ER story! I have no pictures- but it might have been cute if I would have taken some during his breathing treatments- he was having fun with it. Poor Colin!!! Today he is happy and playing- but still very raspy and breathing hard. We slept most of the day! :)
Till next time.... :
